Order what you normally wear. Between sizes or curvy through the hips? Go one size up.

  • 5'1": just above the ankle.
  • 5'4": mid-calf.
  • 5'8": just below the knee.
  • Thick sweater under it all winter? Go one size up.
  • Between sizes? Go one size up.

Covered To The Calf: Your legs are where the cold gets in. A short puffer stops at your hip, so the wind goes straight through your jeans on the walk from the car. This one runs to mid-calf, so it never gets the chance.

Drive In It: Two-way zipper. Open it from the bottom when you sit, and it doesn't bunch behind you or fight the seatbelt. Zip it back down when you get out.

Looks Expensive, Not Like A Sleeping Bag: Matte shell, wide even quilting, a clean line from shoulder to hem. It reads like the $150 department-store coat. Expect "where did you get that?"

Hood, Collar, Cuffs: A high collar you can tuck your chin into. A hood for the wind and the snow. Cuffs that close around your wrist so the cold can't run up your sleeve.

Pockets For Real Life: Deep hand pockets for your phone and your gloves, plus two snap pockets on the chest for your keys. Nothing falls out when you bend over to buckle in a grandchild.

Wash It At Home: Machine wash cold, tumble dry low with a couple of tennis balls. It comes out full and even. No dry cleaning.

How warm is it?
Warm enough for the walk from the car, the wait at the bus stop and the bleachers in January, over a sweater. It is a winter coat for everyday life, not a coat for a ski lift.

Will I look like a sleeping bag?
No. That's the shiny kind with fat round tubes. This one has a matte shell and wide flat quilting, and it falls straight from the shoulder. Long, clean and put together.

Can I drive in it?
Yes. The two-way zipper opens from the bottom, so you sit down without the coat riding up or bunching behind you. Plenty of women never take it off in the car.

What do I wear under it?
Whatever you already wear. A sweater, a turtleneck, a long sleeve tee. Jeans or leggings and boots or sneakers. Order your usual size for a sweater; go up one if it's a thick knit every day.

What size do I order, and how long is it?
Your usual size. Between sizes, go up one. It lands mid-calf on most heights, just above the ankle if you're petite. The exact length for every size is in the size chart.

I already have your long vest. Do I need this?
They do different jobs. The vest is for October to March days when you're in and out of the car. The coat is for the days the vest isn't enough: below freezing, wind, snow. Most women end up with both.

How do I wash it?
Machine wash cold, tumble dry low. Toss in two tennis balls and it comes out full. No dry cleaning.

The Coat That Goes All The Way Down

You know the walk. Car to the front door of the store. Church parking lot to the steps. The bench at the grandkids' game. Your top half is fine. Your legs are freezing, because your coat stops at your hip and the wind goes straight through your jeans.

So you go long. But the long coats you've tried were heavy, shiny, puffed out like a sleeping bag, and impossible to sit down in.

This is the one in between. It runs to mid-calf, so your legs stay covered from the car to the door. The shell is matte and the quilting lies flat, so it looks like the $150 coat at the department store. And the zipper opens from the bottom, so you can drive in it without a fight.

Wear it over the sweater you already have on. Hood up when the wind picks up. $59.99, a fraction of the department-store price, and you'll wear it every day from the first freeze until spring.

    My legs are finally warm

"I always thought I was just cold natured. turns out my coats were too short. this goes down to my calf and the walk in from the parking lot is nothing now"

    - Linda K.

  • auvora-long-coat

    Not heavy at all

"was worried a long coat would weigh a ton. it doesn't. I wear it to the store, to church and to my granddaughter's basketball games and I forget it's on"

    - Debra S.

  • auvora-long-coat

Exactly the length in the chart

"5'5 and it hits mid calf just like they said. I sent back two long coats from other places that were basically knee length. ordering the olive next"

    - Sharon M.

  • auvora-long-coat

    Compliments every time

"wore the espresso to my sister's and she wanted it off my back. matte, not shiny, looks way more expensive than it was"

    - Barbara L.

    When The Vest Isn't Enough

Your short puffer keeps your top half warm and leaves your legs out in the wind. Your long vest takes you through fall. When it drops below freezing, this is the one: covered to the calf, hood up, and still easy to drive in.

      Short Puffer Long Vest
    Legs covered in the wind
    Warm below freezing
    Hood for wind and snow
    Easy to drive in
    Arms covered
    Looks put together, not puffy

    Frequently Asked Questions

Because the cold gets in at your legs. A short puffer stops at your hip and the wind goes right through your jeans. This one runs to mid-calf, so you stay covered from the car to the door.

No. It's light enough to wear all day and to drive in. The warmth comes from the length and the hood, not from piling on weight.

No retail markup. No mall rent. No celebrity deals. We sell direct to you, so you're paying for the coat, not the overhead. Worn four days a week from December to March, that's about a dollar a wear.

Yes, as two different jobs. The vest is your fall layer and your in-and-out-of-the-car layer. The coat takes over when it drops below freezing. Same colour names, so you can match them.

Sizes run XS to 3XL. If you're curvy through the hips, or between sizes, go one size up. If you're petite, it lands just above the ankle instead of mid-calf, which most petite women love for the warmth.

Two-way and smooth, with snaps over it to block the wind. If the zipper fails in the first season, we replace the coat.

It may arrive folded tight for shipping. Ten minutes in the dryer on low and it fills right back out.

If the size is off, exchanges are free. If you don't love it, send it back within 30 days. Holiday orders can be swapped through January 15.
